Why a school for wives? Listen to Margaret Thatcher. She said, “If you want something said, ask a man; if you want something done, ask a woman.” Yes, I want something done about marriage. So I choose to focus on women, specifically wives, at this time.

Some people might ask, “Scholastica, why would you create a school for wives and not a school for husbands or married couples? Wives have already worked hard enough.” I believe schools are created to fulfill needs. In most careers, people complete the educational requirements, training, apprenticeship, and internship before they are licensed to practice. These individuals may not be experts in their respective fields, but they possess a certain level of knowledge of their craft. Moreover, with time, they become more competent and successful. The license protects the general public from harm, stress, and loss.

Unfortunately, marriage is the only aspect of our lives where people are awarded certificates before they even venture into practice. This is in reverse order compared to other fields or professions. Yet, we wonder why we are not as good at it. We engage in trial and error with no training, which may contribute to failed marriages and broken homes.

Scholastica’s School for Wives will teach women about themselves, marriage, homes, careers, children (if they have them), and a host of other issues. I want to tap into the power women possess. I want to tap into the knowledge, intelligence, love, kindness, gifts, patience, and sacrifices of women to make our homes, families, communities, societies, and our world a better place.
